GASLANDS: The Birthday Race

“GASLANDS again! This is Irene Wischer for GRNL:

Is there life on Mars? The question is always the same,before the engines get started. Two teams will compete to have a seat on the next flight to the red planet.”

Michi and Doc met again to have another race of Gaslands at Doc's place. After an opulent dinner they started rolling the dice and shed mayhem on the gaming table. It was Doc's wish to have the teams prepared and cars provided and equipped by Michi. As it was Doc's birthday, Michi was happy to agree and obeyed. 

There was some misinterpretation of the rules at first which resulted in Michi's blue cars occupying both lanes in the first row, but that was corrected before the race began and the first gear phase saw a tight field of vehicles crossing the starting gate. 

“This is Irene Wischer from the racetrack for GRNL: 

The mob is on track and turnig left for the first curve, still accelerating and approaching gate 2. They will activate their weapons upon crossing it and start carnage on the road.”

 

Both drivers still managed to handle their vehicles properly. Gears were still low and only a few hazard markers were dealt yet. Michi tried his best to be the first one to cross gate 2 with Doc hard on his heels. 

"The driver of the leading vehicle is too keen to get into the leading position and shifts to gear 5 way too soon! What is this? He can't take the next curve at that speed and crashes his car on the right post of gate 3, turning it into a smoking wreck. Bad luck, buddy!”

 

"Blue 2 doesn't do much better when he suffers a ram attack by his opponent's truck. Numerous rounds from it's machine gun turret have already wrecked most of the car's hull, hence the bump is too much for it and renders it a second blue smoking wreck on the roadside. Blue is out! Have you ever seen such on your screens at home?”

 

Doc's performance car won the race, his truck was second and Michi was completely out.

It was another great race with lots of fun for both players.

There is a good chance that one of the drivers will soon enter the next rocket to space, but for Blue there will be only dust and rust. They'll have to get back to their garage and think it over to run a better race next time. Good night to all of you spactators at your screens at cosy homes. Irene Wischer over and out.” 

Deep in the Woods

To liven up the game table for “En Garde!” and “Ronin” and to be able to use the additional hunting rules, I have been painting forest animals and matching miniatures over the past few months. There will be more added in the near future.

Most of the models are from “Infernal Miniatures” from a past Kickstarter project. A few animals are from a Humble Bundle from years ago, so unfortunately I can no longer identify the designer. 

 

Gaslands: New Car Pool

Seit 2019 waren sie bereits für Gaslands umgebaut und grundiert auf dem Dachboden verloren gegangen, aber jetzt hat Michi die ersten davon bemalt.

 

Michi has painted the first batch of a number of vehicles which were converted for Gaslands in 2019 and then got lost in the attic until now.

Cold War Cubans

I was delighted to take on the painting for Miska Miniatures' latest Kickstarter project: Red Dawn Revolution. It features an interesting selection of Cuban troops from the Cold War era.

Anyone interested in this era will find that Cubans offer many exciting options for very different skirmish scenarios. After all, Cuban troops were deployed in South America, Africa, and even the Middle East.

After the infantry, I will paint a Ural truck including six passengers for the project in the coming weeks and present it here.

Saga: Fatigue - Ermüdung

Michi has finished three markers worth 2 points of fatigue each. One helmet stands for 1 point, the rest is "marker dressing". The models are metal casts by El viejo Dragon.
