It was a very bumpy year for us game-wise. We hardly ever got around to putting our stuff on the battlefield.

Hopefully things will get better in 2023, we wish all readers a relaxing and peaceful holiday season.

 

Knights in the Sky - Preparations for takeoff

Having a 3D printer is an invitation to try something new from time to time. The normally cost-intensive entry hurdle of new miniatures is enormously low with such a device. Therefore, here is a short overview of a system that Michi and I will soon try out: Knights in the Sky.

The rulebook with about 30 pages costs about 10$ as PDF. Since the rules are in a readable, but in the long run a bit confusing continuous text, I have created my own Quick Reference Sheet, which will hopefully serve us well. All major flight maneuvers of the era are available, as well as the stats of all known fighters (and bombers, reconnaissance planes, etc.). Besides the normal air combat, there are also rules for special scenarios. And besides the basic rules, all advanced rules are already included in the 30 pages, which bring even more realism to the game table.

In addition, I have printed out the flight and weapon templates (created with TinkerCAD) along with the miniature aircraft (STLs by Wargame3D). Two French and two Germans are ready for a test session.

 

 

Gaslands Death Race 2022

“GASLANDS again! This is Irene Wischer for GRNL:

Is there life on Mars? The drivers are about to find out. The winner of today’s race is promised to get a seat on the next flight to the red planet. We have two teams in the pit. One is a rag-tag bunch of no-names from somewhere in the northern wastelands, but the other team is even having a sponsor – Ram Rodder, a former driver himself whose fame has a bit faded over the years, so that not many remember him nowadays. However he built up a little enterprise over the recent years, delivering cheap equipment made from scrap to upgrade racing cars of poorer teams. I was able to talk to him before the race when I met him and his current favorite entering the racecourse on a bumper-car colored motorcycle.”

„This is Irene Wischer right before the race. Now let me introduce the team of of RAM RODDER’S NITRO BOOSTERS:

The first one is MISTER BLISTER, a rather nice fastback equipped with two heavy machine guns – one facing forward and one to the rear:

The next one is ROCKET RACOON, another black fastback with a souped up V-8, equally armed as his flat black team mate:

Finally there is a blue top chop low rider called DIRTY DEED, whose armament is a forward facing machine gun.

BLACK MAMBA crashes in BLISTER’s side causing major damage within the wink of an eye after the start! I estimate a hull damage of 40% on MISTER BLISTER, but only 10% an BLACK MAMBA. The plough on the front seems to have been a good investment.”

„This is GRNL live for you, I am Irene Wischer. It seems that BLACK MAMBA got a bit out of control after the intentional hit on MISTER BLISTER. High speed and a tight curve is something that doesn’t always go too well together. MAMBA hits a wreck from a previous race by the roadside.”

„The field is approaching gate 1, which is obviously numbered wrongly with number 2. The first car which will pass it, is allowed to activate its weapons and will even receive an audience vote. Let’s see who will make it!”

„ROCKET RACOON is closest to the threshold and will likely pass gate 1 first. There is a bit of a bumping in the rear of the field, where RED DUNE is pushing DIRTY DEED to crash into MISTER BLISTER.”

„And it is ROCKET RACOON followed by MISTER BLISTER, mainly team Ram Rodder’s Nitro Boosters, closely followd by the BLUE GERMAN. But what is this? BLACK MAMBA crashes into a pillar and is getting wrecked completely just before passing the first gate! One down, five still on the run – this is Irene Wischer for you, reporting from the Gaslands.”

„Irene Wischer reporting for you that ROCKET RACOON is just hitting a wall while BLUE GERMAN is spinning around right behind. DIRTY DEED also looses control and turns in the wrong direction instead of passing gate 1. Dear dedicated followers, you are witnessing the peak of a turmoil: It's pure carnage and mayhem that is going on down there! MISTER BLISTER seems to be the only one to escape the brawl, even with a 90% destroyed vehicle.”

„We see ROCKET RACOON being finally destroyed by salvoes of bullets fron RED DUNE who backs up right now for a really surprising move. Will he really cross gate 1 again, but in the wrong direction? And why will he try this?”

„This is GRNL with a drone view from above. Spot MISTER BLISTER who has already passed gate 2 and is leading from a distance meanwhile. DIRTY DEED is ready to take on gate 1, BLUE GERMAN heads for gate 2 and buggy RED DUNE's surprising move aims obviously at an interception of DIRTY DEED.”

„Here is proof that RED DUNE's attempt is rewarded by DIRTY DEED's final breakdown - game over for the top chop. ROCKET RACOON is down as well, so it's only three contestants still on track.”

„Irene Wischer here: MISTER BLISTER is just jumping the ramp behind me, heavily applauded by the spectators. BLISTER could have passed the ramp safely, but does it for the show. I wonder where BLUE GERMAN is now. Last time I saw him he was second to MISTER BLISTER.”

„There is MISTER BLISTER heading for the finishing gate, but what is that? It's not BLUE GERMAN behind him. It is RED DUNE who has turned around using the racetrack as his playground instead of following the right direction to the next gate. He really is coming back to stop MISTER BLISTER! Ist that real? „The crew of RED DUNE is pulling the guns out and perforate the tyres of MISTER BLISTER, inflicting the final 10% of damage that causes the inevitable breakdown of the meant to be winner on the treshold of the finishing line.”

Noris Force Con 6

 

 

 

  Am 17. September 2022 war es nach vier Jahren endlich wieder soweit: Die sechste Noris Force Con stand ins Haus - zum zweiten Mal in der Fürther Stadthalle.  

 

 

Draußen war schon gleich der erste Fotopunkt aufgebaut: Der geheime Eingang zum geheimen Bunker des geheimen Schutzschildgenerators aus EpisodeVI "Die Rückkehr der Jedi-Ritter". Außerdem tummelten sich natürlich auch dort schon jede Menge Bewohner einer weit, weit entfernten Galaxis, die nur allzu gern als Statisten auf die Platte gebannt werden wollten...

 

 

 

 Drinnen war das selbstverständlich nicht anders!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 Die freundliche Twilek ließ die Besucher gern eine Runde mit ihrem Landspeeder durch die Jundland-Wüste drehen, wenn man sie lieb gefragt hatte...

 Das Posieren auf der Haube war aber nur anderen Twileks gestattet!

Lego war in diesem Jahr noch stärker vertreten. Heutzutage nennt man die Dinger jedoch wohl allgemein und neutral "Klemmbausteine", weil es auch andere Anbieter dieser untereinander kompatiblen Bauelemente gibt. Hier folgen ein paar Beispiele was man aus diesen so alles gestalten kann:

 

 Kommen wir zum Miniaturenmodellbau, der ja für uns vom Table Terror Team besonders wichtig ist.

Dieser Sternzerstörer über Jeddha ist ein beeindruckendes Diorama, da das Modell gerade mal 10cm lang ist und die Landschaftsgestaltung schon richtiger Mikromodellbau ist.

Das nächste Modell könnte die Häuserschluchten von Coruscant zeigen oder eine beliebige heruntergekommene Ecke in einer ungenannten Stadt irgendwo im Outer Rim. Es gab unglaublich viele Details zu entdecken, die oft mit einem Augenzwinkern präsentiert oder versteckt waren, über die der Star Wars Fan jedoch schmunzeln oder gar lauthals lachen musste:

Die Beleuchtungseffekte haben die Szenerie zusätzlich belebt und die vielen 3D-gedruckten und gut bemalten Figuren waren ein wahrer Augenschmaus in dieser toll gestalteten und liebevoll gealterten Stadtlandschaft.

Das nächste Modell war das maßstäblich größte Ausstellungsstück. Dieser X-Flügler ist passend zu der Figur im Maßstab 1:6 gebaut und in Szene gesetzt:

Auch toll war dieser Schaukasten oder sollen wir sagen "Black Box"? Statisch "eingefrorene" Laserschüsse, die frei im Raum schwebten! Mit dem bloßen Auge war nicht zu erkennen wie der Effekt erzielt wurde, weil der Weltraum wirklich tiefschwarz und die LEDs irre hell waren. Die aufgehellte Fotografie zeigt die schwarzen Säulen:

 

 Dieser Kreuzer der Republik war maßstäblich viel kleiner, jedoch als Modell insgesamt viel größer! Unzählige Lichtleiter und LEDs machten das Ding echt beeindruckend und die winzigen Jäger, die den Kreuzer an feinsten Drähten umschwirrten, erzählten eine Geschichte aus den Klonkriegen. Wer genau hinschaut, erkennt am linken Bildrand die Schiffe von Obi-Wan und Anakin...

 

Lord Vader war natürlich mehrfach vertreten, aber auch C3PO war anwesend. Hier sieht man Anthony Daniels, der ohne seine goldene Hülle nur von Eingeweihten erkannt wird:

Auch sein Kumpel R2-D2 war als funkferngesteuerter Statist in der Menge unterwegs:

 Die Geschichte über seine rosafarbene Kollegin war rührend zu lesen.

 Aber auch andere Astromechdroiden mischten sich unters Volk!

  

Überall gab es was zu sehen, zu lernen und zu kaufen...

 

 

Auf einer kleinen Bühne wurde abwechselndes Programm geboten. Hier sieht man gerade den Reiseveranstalter von Galaxy Tours, der auf englisch dem geneigten Publikum seine Ausflüge in die tunesische Wüste und zu anderen Drehorten aus dem Star Wars Universum andient:

Gleich daneben fand die Ausbildung des Pilotennachwuchses für die Rebellenallianz in einem X-Flügler-Simulator statt.

 

Und weiter geht es mit dem Gucken und Staunen...

 

Dieses Foto zeigt deutlich, warum Sturmtruppler in die imperiale Garde wechseln sollten, wenn sie aus ihrer Rüstung herauswachsen!

Die dunkle Seite hat sich zum Familienfoto versammelt:

In einer Nebenhalle hatte unser Haus- und Hoflieferant von Spiel- und Bastelmaterial seinen Stand und seine Spieltische aufgebaut. Hier sieht man zwei Arrangements für Star Wars Legion.

 

Und so lief sich dann auch irgendwann die regionale Spielerprominenz über den Weg, die schon so manche Schlacht in dieser weit entfernten Galaxis im Pilotensessel bei "X-Wing" oder auf der Kommandobrücke bei "Armada" gegeneinander ausgefochten hat...
