Something happened that we do not appreciate very much: Somebody by the forum alias named Tango01 posted the Miranda photos from this blog on The Miniatures Page, what is not the worst thing at all, because it makes us believe that this person liked what he/she saw here.
Miranda is compared in those replies with 54mm miniatures and not commented very kindly. We are not fishing for compliments, but would appreciate commenting the work on this blog. After all it were those sausage fingers that painted a really small Hasslefree face that was expertedly sculpted and can admittedly hardly be improved by adding some clumsy brush strokes of acrylic paint. Many thanks to the experts from TMP. We´d like to see you doing better!

Not to mention the unibrow. This is terrible.

I suspect she's supposed to be some form of "undead." Probably evocative of what she's like in bed.

In deference to the artist, I suspect what they were trying to do was
highlight the shading on the face but I agree the effect falls flat.
Pity though, they nailed the translucent fabric effect well enough. They
missed the face though with too much highlighting and shadows. Still I
think its at least an acceptable effort.

Still, I like the skill lads, I have a lot of brain cells popping on
the 'how to' and 'what paints' will work to achieve this. So I do give
it a 9 out of 10 tweddle on the actual doing of .
Cheers, practise and magic makes perfect.

Unibrow is the worst part, the fair skin doesn't bother me at all. The figure is inspired by "Miranda – The Tempest" after all.

Put a bag on her head, and it would be a nice example of painting sheer clothing.

A little rant

I've had a run in with Tango01 as well. He's a real piece of work, He skims the internet, taking pictures from anywhere and posting them on TMP. I only joined TMP to report him and the post of my blog he had made.
Oh, and the way the TMPers are critiquing your work without showing face n your blog to talk and give proper C&C is another thing I don't like about the way they work over there. I stopped going shortly after I joined. There are much nicer places to go to interact with others of the community. That place strikes me as being populated with grumpy old grognards!
Thanks for your sympathies, Derek!
I´ve always ignored TMP due to rude comments on others work. You´ll see in my link list which forums I visit. Now I felt it was time to name and blame, because insulting comments without facing the artist is a bit of backstabbing, I feel.
Cheers
Michi
If I may add my own comment to this, I first saw this figure on Frothers-UK, and I like it. The work on the fabric is outstanding! I liked the shading on the face that everyone seems to be commenting on - this is a 25 - 28mm figure, and it's like stage makeup; you have to really push the features, otherwise they just vanish when you look at a figure from normal gaming distances. (I've had people try to go on camera for television without makeup, and it never works!) From my point of view, I think this is a great gaming figure - I wish I had the skill to do something like this lady!
For me I greatly appreciate that TangoO1 posts on TMP links to pics of minis he founded beautiful, inspirational or pleasant while browsing the internet: it makes such works more widely known and they deserve it. He is not reponsible of the awful comments of other TMP posters.
Please don´t get me wrong, I didn´t blame that person Tango01 for posting these pictures and the link - this is perfectly alright - but those people who do comment our work elsewhere instead of doing it where the one who made it is aware of it or can comment in return. It´s a matter of fairness. We are alright if anybody forwards what he likes on our blog. We simply do not appreciate rude comments behind our backs. I simply wondered how TMP could be a source that relates to this blog and went there to find out what happened - to my very unpleasant surprise.
Michi
But aren't you doing the very same thing now - commenting behind their backs? LOL
Please be kind and do not insult anybody by the use of this blog.
